A train derailed on the southeast side of Indianapolis Sunday near the intersection of Southeastern Avenue and Earhart Street.

As of Sunday night, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department and the Indianapolis Fire Department said they were investigating the cause of the derailment and believed that there was no threat to public safety.

IMPD said they do not believe this is a hazmat situation, and added that no injuries have been reported.

IFD said two of the six rail cars contained cornstarch and four were empty.

IMPD said Southeastern will be closed at Earhart Street and Sherman Drive at least through late Monday afternoon for cleanup.
