USA Gymnastics has selected Noblesville as the location for its new training center and headquarters office.

The sport’s national governing body has been based in Indiana since 1983, with its headquarters in downtown Indianapolis.

After more than a dozen proposals from cities across the country, including Colorado Springs and Frisco, Texas, Noblesville was chosen as a finalist last year.

USAG President & CEO Li Li Leung said in a press release the organization is excited to work with Noblesville officials and Indiana sports leaders to make the vision a reality.

“The city is an incredibly enthusiastic and supportive partner as we look to develop a facility that is the heart and hub for the sport of gymnastics in this country,” Leung said.

The new facility will host USA Gymnastics National Team camps and offer educational workshops, competitions and community outreach events throughout the year.

It will join Noblesville’s “Innovation Mile” that aims to attract sports, business and technology investment. This year the 600-acre business district completed construction of The Arena, home to the Noblesville Boom, an NBA G League team and development team for the Indiana Pacers.

“The new Training and Wellness Center will not only train Olympic level athletes, but host community focused events to develop young gymnasts,” said Noblesville Mayor Chris Jensen in a press release. “We look forward to this facility fostering growth among the sport by investing in the training facility to equip athletes with the tools and training needed to compete on the global scale.”

The new center aligns with the Indiana Sports Corps’s 2050 Vision to make Indiana the global epicenter of sports.

The organization used facilities in Texas and Colorado for several years after closing its previous USA Gymnastics National Team Training Center, Karolyi Camp in Texas, following the Larry Nassar sexual abuse scandal.

A fundraising campaign for the facility will determine the scope of the project.
