House Bill 1249 makes flying an unauthorized drone over someone else's property without their consent a Class A misdemeanor.

The Trump administration on Thursday announced Indiana as one of two new national drone test sites — a designation that could attract jobs and spending from the industry.

Drones have been reported near farms quarantined for bird flu at Adams, Allen, Jackson and Jay counties in Indiana and locations in Ohio. Security officials warn they could spread the virus.

Each drone and its equipment costs about $6,000, and the city is investing in a total of 30 for the current rollout.
