Senate approves cuts to NPR, PBS and foreign aid programs

The Senate voted to approve a $9 billion rescission package aimed at clawing back money already allocated for public radio and television.

If Congress approves the rescission package WFYI will lose $1.5 million in federal funding. That makes up about 11 percent of the station's total budget.

President Trump is asking lawmakers to claw back the $1.1 billion in federal subsidies for public broadcasting that Congress approved earlier this year. His request also includes cuts to foreign aid.
