Travis DiNicola

M. Travis DiNicola has been the co-host of the "Art of the Matter" since 2001. His day-job is being the Executive Director of Indy Reads, the adult literacy organization which serves all of Central Indiana.

In addition to providing free tutoring to over 1,500 adults annually, Indy Reads also operates downtown Indianapolis' only bookstore, Indy Reads Books, which was his creation.

Originally from Pennsylvania, Travis studied at Penn State, receiving his Bachelors in Theatre with a Dance minor, and a Masters of Science degree in Art Education with an emphasis in museum education. He has worked as a performing artist, writer, and non-profit administrator for the past two decades, and as the Indianapolis Indians' mascot Rowdie for five seasons. Travis has taught at Seoul National University, IUPUI and Butler University.

Awards he has received include an Indianapolis Arts Council Creative Renewal Fellowship, IBJ's 40 Under Forty, and a NUVO Cultural Vision Award. He volunteers as an MC for many cultural events, and is currently the Vice President of the Indianapolis Museum of Art's Contemporary Art Society, sits on the SKL Advisory Board, and serves on the Pres. Benjamin Harrison Home's Wicket World of Croquet committee (of which he is the 2011 champion).
