Vice President Mike Pence made no mention of the ongoing impeachment inquiry during a speech in Indianapolis Wednesday night. Instead, he highlighted several Trump administration workforce policies.
During his speech, Pence touted the administration’s Pledge to America’s Workers, an initiative where companies and states commit to career training. He also applauded Gov. Eric Holcomb’s increase in career and technical education funding.
Pence says economic growth has created around one million job openings that people don’t have the education or skills to fill.
“We haven’t made it possible for Americans, either young Americans entering the workforce to get the skills and training and the background that they need to take those good paying jobs, or we haven’t provided the opportunities,” he says.
Pence spoke at the opening night of a national conference hosted by Strada Education Network. The group develops research on workforce policies.
