Abdul-Hakim Shabazz

Gabe Whitley, the GOP candidate who unsuccessfully sought to unseat Democratic incumbent Rep. André Carson, now faces felony charge.

Abdul-Hakim Shabazz is a local journalist, lawyer, political commentator, radio host and teacher.

Rokita claimed Shabazz was not a “real” journalist, calling him a gossip columnist. Shabazz has long had media credentials that give him access to the state government buildings in downtown Indianapolis.

For the last few months, Indiana Attorney General Todd Rokita has barred Abdul-Hakim Shabazz from attending his press conferences. Shabazz is a longtime Indiana political commentator and writer, which includes running the website Indy Politics.
