A proposal by Indiana Medicaid officials would drastically cut payments that thousands of families of people with disabilities relied on. State officials say it's necessary to curb ballooning utilization and plug a huge budget gap. But some families worry the changes could lead to them losing their jobs or even their homes.

Around 50 people gathered at the Indiana Statehouse to protest proposed changes to the state’s Medicaid programs. The changes would end payments that thousands of families of adults and kids with disabilities relied on.

The Senate Health and Provider Services Committee passed two bills Wednesday, which aim to increase access to in-home health services and lower drug costs for consumers.
