The Marion County Sheriff's Office issued a warning about a new synthetic opioid called cychlorphine is being linked to a growing number of fatal overdoses across the Midwest — including in Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee.

Most adults with substance use disorders start as teenagers, studies show. That's when school prevention efforts should step in but many fall short.

The goal of the program is to support evidence-based services related to substance use disorders. The county will receive nearly $10.3 million in annual allocations through 2038.

Tippecanoe County will receive $1.1 million from the opioid settlement fund and a state matching program. The county is accepting applications for grants to local programs that can address the overdoses crisis.

Grants from the opioid settlement will go toward treatment, prevention, recovery, harm reduction, and other efforts to reduce barriers to treatment access.
