Senator Jean Breaux

A Democratic precinct caucus chose La Keisha Jackson Thursday to serve out the last few months of Jean Breaux's term after Breaux died last month.

Elected in 2006, Jean Breaux served the Senate for close to 18 years, representing the east side of Indianapolis and parts of Lawrence.

Sen. Jean Breaux (D-Indianapolis) has died, the Senate Democratic caucus announced Wednesday.

The Democratic senator from Indianapolis said that “after a hard-fought battle with my health, the time has come for me to focus on enjoying the time I have left surrounded by my loved ones.”
