The intersection at Ohio and Pennsylvania streets in downtown Indianapolis will reopen Friday at 8 p.m.

A sinkhole prompted the closure on July 4.

Citizens Energy Group representative Laura O’Brien says the collapse of a century-old sewer line caused the sinkhole. The sewer line was below other utility lines, including multiple telecommunication, water, and steam lines, which complicated repairs.

O’Brien says Citizens Energy will continue to inspect sewer lines and invest each year to reline and repair the sewer system.
