DPW and the City of Indianapolis kicked off spring road maintenance work in Indianapolis.
The first day of work started with strip patching on the south side, along Hanna Avenue. This is a stretch of road that City-County Councilor Kristen Jones (D-16) says was in dire need of repair.
"The constituents were clear that improved roads, sidewalks and alleys were at the top of their list," says Jones.
DPW will tackle 19 locations with strip patching in phase one.
This year DPW will invest more than $134 million in transportation and infrastructure projects. DPW has new equipment, a new street maintenance team and a new second shift. Indianapolis Mayor Joe Hogsett says it will make a difference.
"With all these additions, we are expanding the effectiveness and the ability of our crews to maintain our streets," says Hogsett.
Last year 64 strip patching projects were completed across the city.
