Change is coming to West Indianapolis as Elanco breaks ground on its new headquarters.
Elanco Animal Health has unveiled plans for its new global headquarters on the site of the former GM Stamping Plant.
The new facility will take up 40 acres and feature a six-story office building and adjoining labs. The site, which has been vacant since 2011, will also be enhanced with new greenspace and connectivity to downtown.
The headquarters incorporates sustainable building and is designed as a post-pandemic workplace featuring more casual and open spaces and amenities for flexibility.
In a statement Jeff Simmons, Elanco president and CEO, said the groundbreaking represents the company’s next era of growth.
“We’re building paths to help connect Indianapolis’ historic west side with its center, and we’re building a vibrant destination for our nearly 10,000 global employees to collaborate, connect and invent,” Simmons said.
The project is backed by $135 million in city bonds. The company plans to continue engagement with city officials and neighborhood representatives as other development plans for the site take shape.
Construction is expected to take two to three years.
