Free bus rides are available on Election Day in Indianapolis. IndyGo is fare-free Tuesday for anyone, with a goal to get people to the polls.
The move is supported by senior nonprofit service organization AARP Indiana.
In a statement, AARP Indiana Director of Community Engagement Addison Pollock said voting is an important right.
“Encouraging people to use this right is a cornerstone of AARP Indiana’s work in Indianapolis and throughout the state,” she said.
There will be no cost for rides on IndyGo fixed routes as well as reservation-based, access servicesfor people with mobility issues.
Marion County residents will be voting for mayorand city-county councilors in this year’s municipal elections.
There are 186 voting centers available to residents this Election Day. More than 625,000 people are registered to vote in Marion County.
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
