The search for a new leaderat the Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields was announced this week.
The job posting comes three months after former President and CEO Colette Burnette announced her unexpected departure, less than two years after she was hired to lead the art museum.
A committee made up of seven board of trustee members will head the recruiting process. The museum enlisted private search company Koya Partners to help facilitate the national search.
Burnette’s departure caused many in the community, including numerous local Black organizations, to protest for transparency and an explanation. Burnett was hired after a controversial job posting resulted in the resignation of another former museum leader.
Numerous board members have also resigned their posts in the wake of Burnette’s departure.
Neither Newfields nor Burnette have provided a reason for her leaving.
The museum said a diverse slate of candidates will be considered for the position. A final decision will be made by the museum’s governing body, the Newfields Board of Trustees.
Michael Kubacki, a former trustee and outgoing chair of Lake City Bank, has been serving as interim President and CEO of Newfields.
