The Madam Walker Legacy Center continues its mission online as it waits to open up. From our Arts and Culture Desk, WFYI’s Jill Ditmire spoke via ZOOM with board member Kristian Stricklen about its current work to empower young people and enrich Indianapolis.

Strickland starts by outlining the aims of its online Madam Walker Summer Institute.

The summer programing launched online with a hair contest in honor of  Madam C.J. Walker’s iconic hair product company. “Daddy Do Day“ encourages families to post photos of their favorite daddy and daughter hairstyle moments.

More information on the free activities and events are available on the Madam Walker Legacy Center website and Facebook page.
