Metropolitan Police Department Assistant Chief Chris Bailey says detectives and SWAT officers stopped a vehicle containing a suspect who allegedly got out and began firing on officers.

Witnesses told police that shots were being fired from inside his home into the neighborhood. Arriving officers also observed shots being fired, set up a perimeter around the house and began evacuating neighbors.
