For every $1 of federal funding, public broadcasting stations raise more than $6 from local sources — a tremendous return and a successful public-private partnership. Still, the new administration is proposing to eliminate this funding and leave millions of Americans without what they believe is the most trusted source of news, information and early education in the country.
On this show we'll talk about gun violence and gun control. Our guests include State Senator Jim Tomes, Chuck Hibbert - school safety expert and retired Indiana State Trooper, Steve Dunlop of Hoosiers Concerned About Gun Violence, and Heather McCabe - assistant professor with the IU School of Social Work. Listen to additional reporting about teens and illegal guns done in March of 2012 by Y-Press, an Indianapolis based youth news organization, online here.
