Ballet Legend And IU Professor Violette Verdy, 82, Dies
Verdy was the first woman to be artistic director of the Paris Opera Ballet and the first to hold a university faculty chair position solely for ballet. She joined the Indiana University's Jacobs School ballet faculty in 1996.

Hoosier Homecoming - Janet Langhart Cohen Presents 'Anne And Emmett' At IRT
Janet Langhart Cohen returns to Indianapolis to introduce her one act play, "Anne & Emmett." It is centered on Anne Frank, who became the symbol of the Nazi Holocaust, and Emmett Till, who helped spark America's civil rights movement. His murder left a deep impression on Cohen, who also experienced racism as a child in Indianapolis.

Creating Art Out Of Loss
Gregory Hancock composed and choreographed an original musical based on Frida Kahlo's life from 1919 to 1954. Then it sat, unperformed, for 20 years. But a series of personal tragedies has galvanized Hancock to complete his vision, culminating in the world premiere of "La Casa Azul" at the Tarkington at the Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel on June 25-28.
