May 26, 2015 (Indianapolis, IN) – WFYI’s new online series, Small Studio Sessions, released its second podcast today, Tuesday, May 26. The series, modeled after NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts, features bands playing an acoustic set in the WFYI Studios. The video of this month’s performance featuring The Whipstitch Sallies is available for streaming now.

“We are excited to launch the second podcast of our new online music series. We anticipate the performance of the Whipstitch Sallies will get a strong following from the community,” said Melissa Davis, series organizer, and production manager for 90.1. “Watching them perform in the studio was great. It was clear that they work extremely hard to develop the right sound.”

The Indianapolis based bluegrass band, the Whipstitch Sallies, is group of four women who are dedicated to perfecting their sound by using traditional instruments and constructed harmonies. The WFYI performance features three of the band members playing a number of the band’s songs, including fan favorites, “Piney Flats” and “Got Me a Letter”.

Independent hip-hop band, Native Sun, of Indianapolis, will be featured in June’s Small Studio Sessions, which will be available for viewing Tuesday, June 30.
