An upcoming exhibit at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway Museum will highlight the art of the racing helmet.

Spokesperson Kara Kovert Pray said the museum is looking for local artists to contribute to the exhibit.

“Commissioning local artists to design helmets that would represent them with the question of ‘“if you were a driver, what would your helmet be? What would it say to represent you,’”?  Kovert Pray said.

The exhibition will feature a total of 27 helmets, nine helmets from racing history, nine from current drivers, and local artists will create the final nine.

The museum will offer a $500 artist fee to those selected.

The exhibition, “Sleek: The Art of the Helmet,” opens in July.

Submission deadline is April 15
