Nominations Being Accepted For Bicentennial Torch Relay

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indiana is looking for upstanding citizens to take part in its Bicentennial Torch Relay.

The Indiana Office of Tourism Development on Tuesday announced it was accepting torchbearer nominations from the public. It wants nominations of Indiana residents who demonstrate exceptional public service, excellence in their profession, acts of heroism or volunteer service to their neighborhood, community, region or state.

The online nomination form is available at http://www.indiana2016.org/torchrelay/nomination-forms/ . The nomination period ends Dec. 31. Nomination committees have been formed in each county to manage the process.

The relay will start Sept. 9, 2016 in Corydon, Indiana's first state capital, and culminate with a celebration Oct. 15, 2016 at the statehouse.
