Jim Conwell is stepping down from his role as president of the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The school Board of Trustees accepted his resignation Wednesday.

A press release states Conwell’s resignation will take effect Nov. 15. The release says the resignation is a mutual decision between Conwell and the board due to board concerns and Conwell’s desire to focus on a health issue in his family.

“Jim has moved this institution forward—we have a beautiful new student union, additional land on which to grow, and a new academic building in the works,” Board Chair Niles Noblitt said in the release. “We wish him well.”

Senior Vice President Rob Coons will serve as acting president in the interim. The board will meet to discuss its next steps later this month.
