The Indianapolis Metro Police Department reached out to the public Monday for information about the homicide of 8-year-old Roderick Payne Jr.

Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears announced Tuesday that the man suspected in the April 9 shooting that killed IMPD Officer Breann Leath and seriously injured a second woman will be charged with murder.

Detectives arrested Elliahs Dorsey, 27, on preliminary charges of murder and attempted murder in the Thursday slaying of Officer Breann Leath, 24, police said.

Officer Breann Leath was 24 years old. She was responding to a domestic disturbance call at an apartment complex in the area of 21st Street and North Franklin Road when shots were fired.

The boy was shot shortly after 11 p.m. Tuesday and pronounced dead at Riley Hospital for Children. Police say "numerous" shots were fired into the house from the street on the city's northeast side.

Fishers Police officers responding to an apartment complex for a welfare check Monday were met with gunfire from a second-floor unit. No officers were hit by gunfire.

Officers responded about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday to reports of shots being fired and found three men and one woman with apparent gunshot wounds. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
