Grants are now available for local initiatives that connect Indianapolis residents with long-term food and nutrition resources.

Carlette Duffy is the Director of Re-entry for the City of Indianapolis and the Office of Public Health and Safety (OPHS), and she spoke with WFYI's Terri Dee about a pilot program that offers some formerly incarcerated people financial coaching to get on their feet.

Indianapolis is experiencing a surge in violence. And as stay-at-home restrictions are lifted, the Office of Public Health and Safety was able to resume in-person violence reduction work -- including the Safe Summer initiative and downtown canvasing

Five community organizations received $60,000 from the Community-Based Violence Prevention Partnership.
