Martin University will host a Juneteenth event on June 18th and unveil its new effort to address racial injustice through workshops, lectures, programs, and initiatives.

Juneteenth was celebrated in various ways across the city today. A short march for peace ended at Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Park where public safety and elected officials offered visions of what Indianapolis must do next at this moment.

If you never learned about Juneteenth in school, you're not alone. Many textbooks just briefly mention it or don't cover it at all.
