Executives of Tennessee-based Krone North America Inc. had announced plans for a new Shelbyville facility in March 2016.

Meltzer Woods near Shelbyville will open Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. and be open seven days a week from dawn to dusk.

The state-of-the-art facility will provide health services to horses and serve as a working laboratory to support the College of Veterinary Medicine's student learning and research.

Local officials hope to start the "Advantage Shelby County" program in January 2016.
