Emanuel Leutze’s famous painting, Washington Crossing the Delaware, celebrates an almost mythical moment during the American Revolution. Yet a stone carver from Bedford, Indiana, Frank Arena Jr., maximized the drama even more by carving a life-sized, limestone version to celebrate the United States Bicentennial in 1976.
