Radio joins the digital revolution!
HD RadioWFYI radio programming is now available in crystal clear digital quality. Like its sister station TV 20, WFYI radio has made the transition to digital broadcasting, allowing it to simulcast programming in digital for those with HD radios. This new digital technology also allows WFYI to multi-cast more than one programming stream, making the most of the 90.1 spot on the FM dial.

CD Quality Sound
This new HD radio technology improves the audio quality of WFYI’s transmissions. Talk programs never sounded so clear, and The Classical Connection with Michael Toulouse and broadcasts of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra never sounded so glorious. Even The Blues House Party sounds “bluesier” some how.

Increased Service
Just as exciting is the development of digital multi-casting. The new HD radio technology allows WFYI to deliver more than one service simultaneously. WFYI engineers have the second channel up and running now and have asked the FCC for permission to begin a third.

In addition to more programming, HD radio technology will eventually allow WFYI to display song title, artist and even weather and traffic information on the radio display.

What’s on?

WFYI HD-1 is an improved digital simulcast of WFYI’s regular schedule.
WFYI HD-2 is carrying XPoNential Radio. XPoNential Radio is an array of artists and music with a unique mix of emerging and heritage contemporary musicians. This music genre is threaded through NPR's newsmagazine programming both in the content and in the interstitial breaks and is very recognizable to public radio audiences. Learn More...
