21 Arrested In Multi-Agency Indianapolis Gang Sweep

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — An Indianapolis gang sweep by more than 500 federal, state and local law enforcement officials has resulted in the arrests of 21 people.

Federal prosecutors said the arrests Wednesday dismantled a gang operating on the city's east side known as the Block Burners that had been under investigation since late last year.

They say the sweep also netted dozens of guns, drugs and more than $53,000 in cash.

They say 13 people were arrested on federal drug charges and the eight others face state drug or firearm charges.

U.S. Attorney Josh Minkler says members of the gang "seemed to think they could operate with little or no worry." He said members boasted about violence and drug distribution on social media.
