500 Stories: Sharing Your Indianapolis 500 Story

The Indianapolis 500 isn’t just a motorsports tradition – it’s a family tradition that draws fans from all generations and all walks of life, year after year, to the corner of 16th and Georgetown. In honor of the 100th running of the race, WFYI News is inviting people to share a story for our project called “My 500.”

Throughout May WFYI’s Speak Up Phone will be stationed inside the Speedway Centre for the Arts (1340 W. Main St.) to gather stories. You can also submit a story through our online form. Here's a sample of the memories people have shared:
