Bald eagle Hurt In Winter Storm Released To Wild

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (AP) — A bald eagle rescued after being injured in a winter storm has been returned to the wild.

WTHR-TV reports the eagle was set free Sunday at Lake Monroe south of Bloomington after spending several weeks at a wildlife rehabilitation center.

The eagle was discovered in the northern Indianapolis suburb of Carmel after suffering a concussion in a winter ice storm.

Laura Edmonds of the Indiana Raptor Center says to see a bald eagle take flight after rehabilitation is a "mini-miracle."

Indiana has more than 100 pairs of bald eagles.
