INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles announced that it will extend the operating hours of license branches on May 4 and 5 to allow state residents to obtain identification so they can vote in the primary election.

BMV Commissioner Kent Abernathy announced Tuesday that branches in counties that have May 5 elections will have extended hours. The branches will be open Monday, May 4 from 8:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, May 5, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

These license branches will process only new, amended or replacement ID cards, and renewed, amended or replacement driver's licenses and learner permits.

Indiana law requires residents to show either a driver's license or a state-issued identification card at polling places before they can vote.
