Can You Drive A Snowplow?

Can You Drive A Snowplow?

Snowy and icy winter weather is still several weeks away (we hope), but the Indiana Department of Transportation is already filling the seats of its fleet of plow trucks.

INDOT says it is looking to hire about 25 seasonal employees for its winter maintenance operations in the Indianapolis Subdistrict, which covers Marion County. Those who get the jobs will work as full-time seasonal maintenance crew and will operate INDOT’s plow trucks when the weather turns ugly.

The seasonal employees will be paid $15 per hour and scheduled to work 37.5 hours per week, according to INDOT. Benefits aren't offered for these positions, but employees will be eligible for overtime. Employment is expected to begin in November and last through April. Applications will be accepted until Nov. 7. If you're interested, apply at the Indiana State Job Bank for Job ID #586446.

INDOT says applicants must have:

  • Valid commercial drivers license (CDL)
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to pass a drug test successfully
