Indiana Humanities is organizing discussions at restaurants across the state. The theme is "Who belongs here?"

Chew On This started two years ago in Indianapolis but today restaurants around the state host these conversations in an effort to bring Hoosiers together.

Indiana Humanities hopes to use the power of food to bring people together for conversations on issues like ethnic identity, agriculture and who belongs in the Midwest.

How welcoming is your community? Who decides who is or isn't part of a community? And how can your community be more welcoming? These are just some of the questions to be discussed at restaurants around Indiana on Sept. 24. Organizer Leah Nahmias says Chew On This conversations are sold-out events.

"And at each table, there's a facilitator who helps guide the discussion but really the idea is to come together around a meal for an open-ended conversation where the topic is something everybody can relate to and have ideas about," Nahmias says.

Indiana Humanities is organizing events in Indianapolis, Batesville, Fort Wayne, Muncie, Middlebury, New Harmony and New Albany.
