Cultural Trail Launches Adaptive Bike Program

Cultural Trail Launches Adaptive Bike Program

Indianapolis Cultural Trail, Inc. launched an adaptive bicycle program along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail.

Executive director Kären Haley says the program allows more people the opportunity to enjoy the Cultural Trail.

“We have a mobility challenged community here in Indianapolis and many of those people live downtown or want to recreate and explore just like the rest of us,” Haley says. “So this gives them the opportunity to do that by bike but using adaptive bicycles and adaptive tricycles along the Indianapolis Cultural Trail.”

Adaptive bicycles are designed for people with mobility challenges or those who do not feel comfortable riding a traditional bike.

The program offers five different types of adaptive bicycles and tricycles to be rented for $14 an hour. Rentals include a custom bike fitting from trained staff, a helmet and lock.
