U.S. Rep. André Carson will face Republican Wayne Harmon in the November general election.

Carson easily beat out four challengers in the Democratic primary. Harmon won the GOP nomination out of a crowded field of six candidates.

Carson has held the District 7 seat since 2008. He won a special election to finish the term of his grandmother, Congresswoman Julia Carson, who died in 2007.

Harmon was a candidate in three previous GOP primaries for the seat, but this is his first time winning the nomination. He has served the Marion County Probation Department and the Indiana State Parole Services.

Indiana's 7th District covers most of Indianapolis and Marion County. The November general election is slated for Nov. 6.
