Fire Strikes Central Indiana Wood-Treatment Plant

SHELBYVILLE, Ind. (AP) — Fire crews are battling a large industrial fire at a central Indiana wood-treatment plant.

WISH-TV reports the fire at Culpeper Wood Preservers in Shelbyville was reported about 4:20 a.m. Friday in the city 25 miles southeast of Indianapolis.

The first crews on the scene reported that flames were shooting through the business' roof. All off-duty Shelbyville firefighters have been called in to help douse the flames.

No injuries were reported.

Culpeper Wood Preservers' website says the company has other operations in Virginia, South Carolina and Maryland and is one of the nation's largest producers of pressure treated lumber.

The company makes treated wood products for residential, commercial, industrial and marine markets.
