The French ambassador to the United States recently made his first visit to Indiana.

Philippe Etienne met with Gov. Eric Holcomb to discuss continued business relations in a post-pandemic world.

“We discussed how we can in particular re-develop this economic partnership,” Etienne said.

Indiana exports $1.4 billion to France and imports $2.8 billion.

Etienne also met with several Hoosier companies that do business in France and made a trip to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  France currently ranks third for job creation among foreign companies in Indiana, with nearly 31,000 jobs.

Etienne also participated in a roundtable on French language programs with the International Center, Alliance Francaise, and the International School of Indiana.

Etienne’s schedule included a visit to Fort Ouiatenon Park in West Lafayette, which is the site of an early French settlement.
