DNR Offers Free Outdoor Activities

The Ford Hoosier Outdoor Experience will give people a free chance this weekend to try about 50 outdoor activities at Fort Harrison State Park.

“Here you have an expert showing you how a crossbow, or a shotgun, or a bow and arrow, or a mountain bike, disc golf ... Just about anything you can do outdoors, there’s an expert to show you how hands-on how to use it,”  says the DNR's Marty Benson

The event draws thousands of people to the park, so Benson advises to show up early if you want to try a specific activity.

“Because there are so many events we encourage people to come both days," Benson says. "It’s not as busy generally during the mornings so that’s a good time to come if you want to miss the crowds. It generally is more populated during Saturday afternoon and Sunday afternoon”

The park will have free admission 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. There is also free parking.
