Gov. Mike Pence will deliver his third State of the State address tonight to a joint session of the General Assembly.

Pence’s first two State of the State speeches centered on tax reform.  In 2013, he pushed his proposed 10 percent income tax cut.  Last year, he called for reducing the business personal property tax.

This year, tax reform will likely take a distant back seat to education.  Pence has called for 2015 to be an education session, and the bulk of his outlined proposals revolve around the subject. That includes the big picture goal of moving 100,000 more students to high-quality schools by 2020.

In addition to more information about Pence’s legislative agenda, many will be on the lookout this evening for clues as to the governor’s political future, with a potential run for president in 2016 looming in the background.
