The 164 year-old Flanagan-Kincaid House standing alongside I-69 in Fishers will be deconstructed. The building was relocated from its original location at 106th street and Kincaid Drive in 2014.

In 2018, plans were made to move the Flanagan-Kincaid House to the center of a roundabout. The project would have included restoration and preservation efforts. However, the restoration and relocation plan didn’t happen, leaving the house to remain by the interstate.

Sitting mostly untouched for years, Fishers mayor Scott Fadness said in a statement the Flanagan-Kincaid House has fallen into disrepair and is too expensive to fix.

“We’re at a point where there is such an advanced level of deterioration,” Fadness said, “that rehabilitating the structure would be a significant financial and logistical undertaking, and the house likely wouldn’t survive another move.”

In place of the Flanagan-Kincaid House, the Fishers AgriPark will expand into the space currently taken up by the historic building.

The Fishers AgriPark is an education-focused urban farm. The park provides visitors with seasonal flowers and produce as well as opportunities to encounter livestock among other attractions.

While the house will be gone, its clay bricks will be preserved for use in a future project in the AgriPark to honor the history of Fishers farming.

Deconstruction is set to be completed by the end of July. Plans for the AgriPark’s use of the land have yet to be announced.
