For fear of severe thunderstorms, Indiana Black Expo’s Summer Celebration Friday concert will move from the American Legion Mall to inside the Indiana Convention Center.

The convention center can accommodate 8,000 people. Indiana Black Expo President Tanya Bell acknowledged the change in venue means thousands fewer can attend, but says public safety takes precedence.

“We take the safety and security of our guests very seriously,” Bell says. “Please know that we have exhausted every scenario before arriving at this decision.”

The concert, which Bell says can draw up to 30,000 people in its regular location, is still free to the public. Entry tickets will now be required on a first come first serve basis with a limit of two per person.
