Indianapolis Cultural Trail announced Wednesday that it has received a $1 million grant
from the Anthem Foundation.

The gift, made as a part of Anthem’s 75th anniversary celebration, illustrates the significant impact the Indianapolis Cultural Trail and the organization’s programs, including Pacers Bikeshare, have on our community’s health now and for future generations, says Kären Haley, Indianapolis Cultural Trail executive director.

“Indianapolis Cultural Trail Inc. ensures the Cultural Trail is a world class public space and beautiful
experience that is always accessible. This includes a significant operations and maintenance program, which is essential to the trail’s role in community and economic development and the health and wellbeing of our community,” Haley says.

Part of the grant will also go towards using counters on the cultural trail.

“And that’s really important for us to track and measure how many people and what ways they are using the cultural trail so as we think about expansion having that information, having that data is really important" says Haley.

Part of the grant funds will also go to the Pacers Bike Share program, which was expanded earlier this year.
