Injured State Representative Returns To Work

After being injured in a car accident last Thursday evening, Rep. David Niezgodski, D-South Bend, returned to the Indiana House of Representatives on Tuesday.

The accident happened just before 7 p.m. on the north side of the Statehouse at the intersections of Ohio Street and Capitol Avenue when a Kia Sorento, driven by 24-year-old Megan Durham, hit the passenger side of Niezgodski’s Cadillac.

Niezgodski’s 23-year-old daughter, Rachel, who was a passenger in his car, received a concussion, while Niezgodski had a broken rib and aggravated neck problems he’s had in the past.

During Tuesday’s House session, Niezgodski thanked fellow legislators for their support during the difficult time.

“My daughter is very, very lucky to be here,” he said. “Thank you so very much from the bottom of all of our hearts.”
