IPS Extends School Year To Make Up For Lost Time

Indianapolis Public Schools will be in session Tuesday, March 25 and Thursday, June 12 to regain instructional time lost during this year’s severe winter weather. The Indianapolis Board of School Commissioners voted to approve the makeup days during its meeting Tuesday night.

With the addition of June 12, the graduation date for IPS will be pushed back.

The two makeup days approved were in addition to three days added by the board in January. Those days were Friday, May 23, Monday, March 24 and Wednesday, June 11.

IPS says the administration’s recommendation, balancing the use of days across the 2013-2014 school calendar, was largely based on input from teachers, staff, students and families.
