Man Shot And Killed By Indianapolis Police, Officer Injured

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Indianapolis police say a man was fatally shot during a struggle with a police officer after a foot pursuit and an officer was grazed in the arm by a bullet on the city's eastside.

Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Chris Wilburn says the investigation is continuing but the initial investigation indicates an officer pulled over a vehicle for a routine traffic stop shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday and a man fled the car on foot. Wilburn described it as a short pursuit into a wooded area where the officer caught up with the armed man. Wilburn says the man tried to grab the officer's gun and shots were fired.

He says the investigation into exactly what happened remains under investigation.
