Nonprofit provides phones to local domestic violence survivors

A local nonprofit provides free smartphones and data service to domestic violence survivors in Indiana.

More than a Phone Executive Director Julie Moorehead said it’s a corporate giving initiative of Verizon retailer TCC to help victims stay connected to loved ones.

“We piloted here in Indiana in 2017,” Moorehead said. “We worked very closely with the Julian Center and Colburn Place and Prevail to start the program, Moorehead said.”

The organization now works with 15 shelters statewide.

The organization will host a fundraising event Sunday at The Crane Bay Event Center ahead of the Indianapolis Colts home game.
