Numerous Crashes Block I-74 Near Indianapolis

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A chain-reaction crash involving more than a dozen vehicles has shut down an icy section of Interstate 74 on Indianapolis' southeast side.

The crashes happened Monday morning near Acton Road as vehicles slid and were unable to stop, including a semitrailer that jackknifed and slid into the median.

No serious injuries were immediately reported.

Eastbound traffic backed up for several miles as crews worked to clear the interstate of ice and wrecked vehicles.
