ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) — Opponents of a proposed central Indiana reservoir are urging an economic development group to drop its plans for the $450 million project.
A coalition of environmental groups headed by Heart of the River focused attention Friday on concerns raised by state-funded study of the proposed 2,100-acre Mounds Lake Reservoir.
The Herald Bulletin reports the next step in the proposal is forming a Mounds Lake Commission staffed by 12 local elected officials.
Heart of the River spokeswoman Marian Osborne Berky urged the Corporation for Economic Development of Anderson and Madison County to withdraw an ordinance that would create that commission.
Corporation for Economic Development executive director Rob Sparks says that creating the commission is the next step in evaluating the project to determine what's best for the region.
